FOR GROWN-UPS · EPISODE 05
Lily’s Muddy Boot Trail
A few easy ways to explore comparing together.
The video is coming soon. You can use the everyday activity now.
BEFORE THE STORY
Compare your hand and your child’s hand side by side.
WHILE YOU WATCH
Look at the prints from the same distance. Bigger and smaller describe a comparison, not who is better.
AFTER THE STORY
Can something be smaller than one thing and bigger than another?
Make it fit your child
Keep it simple
Compare two clearly different objects and use simple bigger/smaller words.
Explore a little further
Find a third object and arrange all three from smaller to bigger.
Try it in your day
Trace two hands on paper and compare their outlines. You do not need mud to explore size.
Follow your child’s interest. Pointing, talking, drawing, and watching together all count as joining in; there is no score to earn.
